DUI Process Overview
When a person is convicted of a DUI in Illinois, they become part of
three state subsystems: The Secretary of State, the Circuit Court
System and the Illinois Department of Human Services Office
Alcoholism and Substance Abuse. Each case is difference. In some
instances even when the case is settled with the court, the individual
may still be ordered to complete a Risk Education course and
Substance Abuse treatment. AWO can help by providing the following:
- An in-depth analysis of the post treatment evaluation
- Familiarize clients with standard Secretary of State hearing
procedures to better prepare them for their day in court
- Interview witnesses that can collaborate and confirm
information regarding progress and participation in
comprehensive treatment services
- Strengthen competence and confidence with attending
Secretary of State hearing
- Gather all relevant and required documentation in preparation
for Secretary of State Hearing.
Documentation may include but not limited to:
- Master Treatment Plan
- Discharge Summary
- Individualized Continuation of Recovery Plan
- Original Secretary of State Evaluation
- Verification of Treatment
